Raila Odinga Defies IG Japheth Koome's Orders Against Azimio La Umoja's Protests
Azimio leader Raila Odinga adamantly defies IG Koome's orders against the planned demonstrations. Speaking at Jesus Teaching Ministry in Embakasi he said their protests will go on regardless of the police orders.
"You are saying you are going to arrest everyone. I am ready for you. Koome, do not send your officers to me, come face me yourself," Said the opposition leader.
The protests started last Monday where rioters were spotted maiming and destroying several businesses among them Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket in Tassia, Embakasi East Constituency. Others were captured on cameras destroy road signages in the streets of Nairobi.
Odinga stood firm claiming he won't relent fighting for rights and justice of Kenyans. His concerns are solely focused on the cost of living in the country and protest over presidential victory which he still says it was rigged from him.
On the other hand Martha Karua used the opportunity in the church urging protesters to turn up in multitude.
"We are marching peacefully as our constitution states and we shall not entertain any message meant to set us back,"-Martha Karua said.
She dared the IG Japheth Koome to arrest her during the Monday protests,
"You will have an opportunity to handcuff me, come handcuff me. Tomorrow will be your day but there will come a time when you will be handcuffed for your mistakes," she said.
Former CS Defense Eugene Wamalwa castigated the police for declaring their protests as unlawful. He said they had served their notice to the police a week earlier.
"There are protests all over the world. In France, the protests are on retirement age. In South Africa, it is about power blackouts. In Isreal, Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing protests over his leadership. What about us? Don't we have problems in Kenya? We are calling on Ruto to address the cost of living." Eugene Wamalwa
The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition threatened His Excellency President William Ruto with ICC if human rights were violated during their demonstrations.
